Health Connections: AIDS Education Lessons to Supplement Literature-Based Instruction for Grades 6-12

Borrow Health Connections AIDS (within California only)

This resource binder of twenty lesson-plan booklets integrates HIV/AIDS education with core literature in grades 6-12. The lessons focus on critical thinking about the health choices of characters in literature. They provide opportunities for students to learn AIDS prevention skills such as problem solving, decision making, resolving conflicts, peer pressure, emotional awareness, and assertive communication. The complete set includes booklets for each of these 20 literature titles:

The lesson plans provide teacher support, connections English/Language Arts Standards, lesson overview, teacher-friendly Ready/Set/Go format, blackline masters of student handouts, and additional resources. In California, the Health Connections lesson plans (#2033) are available for four-week loan on www.californiahealthykids.org. Health Connections: AIDS was developed for the California Department of Education.
